Recieved September 2008 via email, 100 Series L/C TD
Hello Troy - you installed a Tunit V-VP in our 100 Series
L/C TD while we were staying at a caravan park at Tweed Heads. At the time
I promised I would send details of performance once we had covered a reasonable
distance. We have now arrived back home in WA and I kept a log of fuel consumption
and have compared these numbers with a trip last year in WA - details are:
2007 - WA trip 5,354 km - fuel 1,038 litre = 5.16 k/litre or 19.38 litre/100km
2008 - Tunit install - Qld, NSW, SA and WA - 8,930 km - fuel 1,538 litre = 5.83
k/litre or 17.15 litre/100km
Improvements since Tunit:
. Fuel - improved approx 12%
. Power/towing capacity - very noticeable improvement - L/C is manual transmission
and towing done in 4th gear travelling between 80 - 90 k/ph - prior to Tunit
we regularly had to change down a gear on hills but since Tunit install very
rarely changed down while cruising. Take off from standing is much easier now
with gear changes now at much lower revs than before. Motor runs much smoother
and quieter and comfortably pulls away from 1000 rpm with no vibration or "chugging".
Overtaking - acceleration shows noticeable improvement with a few bursts up to
120 kph easily achieved.
All the above figures and comments are while towing Trakmaster Offroad tandem
axle caravan with gross weight 2,750 kg (weighbridge confirmed) for 90% of travel
and 10% without van.
Overall we are very happy with the Tunit and thanks you for your very prompt
and friendly service.
Regards
Bill & Julie

Hi guys,
Have just put a Tunit on a Holden Rodeo and it is *$&@ING fantastic the best thing we have bought for that ute. We where going to sell it because of the lack of power but now we are reconsidering that decision.
Now I want to order one for a Sitec 155 Isuzu here are my

Received June 2008 via email, Toyota GXL Turbo Diesel
Hello Troy,
I thought that I show drop you a note about my satisfaction with the Tunit Model V-VP that was installed in my 2004 Toyota GXL Turbo Diesel 100 series Auto Station wagon.
This was the vehicle that was Dyno Tested at Labrador after installation.
The following are a series of consumption figures that I have achieved in the first month on the road.
| Kilometres driven | Fuel Used in Litres | Kilometres / litre | Litres / 100 km |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1142.7 | 165.18 | 6.92 | 14.46 |
| 836.6 | 96.70 | 8.65 | 11.56 |
| 573.9 | 76.80 | 7.47 | 13.38 |
| 609.9 | 81.90 | 7.45 | 13.43 |
The first reading was with the Tunit setting at 6 (as you had set it after the Dyno) and also included the climb through the hills to Canungra and then over Cunninghams Gap to Warwick with our Jayco Heritage Caravan (21.5 ft) fully loaded.
The second reading was travelling around the Warwick and Granite Belt areas, but without the van in tow. I found that the vehicle was changing gear a lot in cruise control with only reasonably low hills so before we departed for Goondiwindi from Warwick I increased the Tunit setting to 7. This has been very successful as can be seen from the third and fourth readings. Next week we will be doing a trip to Brisbane from Dalby and return so that will be a good test without towing.
I have spoken to other Landcruiser Turbo Diesel owners and they seem to be getting between 18 and 22 litres / 100 km fuel consumption. Obviously I am having a financial benefit which is great to have in these times of escalating fuel prices.
I am delighted with the results after installation and have been recommending it to other Landcruiser owners.
Cheers

Dear Troy,
Well here goes-I read about "Tunit" in an English car magazine and this prompted some research. Imagine my surprise when I found that there was an authorised agent here in Australia, one hour away! A phone call and the Astra Turbodiesel was "sorted'.
I knew that the performance would improve, but I wasn't prepared for the "extras"! The car is much quieter, smoother, and even the automatic gearbox has improved "shifts". A recent trip, with mixed driving conditions, gave me 47.6mpg! Wow!
The Astra has covered some 10,000 miles and is better than "new".
Thank you again,
Dr Peter Cassimatis

Hi
Got home at 1800, (after many dog stops), Tunit is working great. Hills and overtaking trucks no problem. Not only that I think I used less fuel on the return trip. (Maybe because its all down hill to Victoria). By the way I know why you are all so popular. It's true you are a friendly family business. "I'LL BE BACK"
Have a great show in Sydney.
Kindest Regards
David and "Odie"

Hi
I've been waiting to do fuel-consumption figures on the Prado for you but haven't needed to fill up yet. I thought I'd give you initial feedback but I'll try to do some consumption figures and go for a nice beach run sometime in the next few weeks around Xmas / New year then give you more detailed feedback.
The Prado 90 series 3.0L turbodiesel has really improved significantly - the "feel" reflects the increase in numbers. I can feel the difference - it's quite obvious. The turbodiesel was always nicer with the auto transmission with minimal turbo lag. Getting away from the lights the Prado is now quite quick off the mark, and really starts pulling from 2000rpm onwards. In addition, at highway speeds, the overtaking also is much better. Prior to the upgrade, the 3.0 TD would run out of breath around 3000+ rpm but now it keeps pulling fairly well up to 4000rpm. Much better for overtaking.
It can accelerate pretty well from 110kph upwards up to 140kph and would probably keep going a bit further BUT **ahem** I haven't tried to take it beyond that for obvious legal reasons.
I've left the setting at the middle pins ie "standard".
Fuel consumption hasn't changed much just watching the fuel-gauge (ie in
my usual week's driving it's still moving down about the same rate). I will
do those figures at some stage and let you know. They will be with driving
for "enjoyment" too... I'm sure if I drove for economy it would
be as good as or better consumption.
One thing also is that the performance difference becomes
really noticeable once the engine is nicely warmed up, say around 5 minutes
driving. Interesting?

My name is Sean. I brought a Tunit off you guys for a 03 Hilux 3.0TD. I had a D-Tronic before that. Here are the Dyno figures from standard, then D-Tronic, then Tunit. All Dyno’s were done with Intercooler fitted. I am happy with the Tunit. I was wondering if it can be programmed with laptop to achieve a touch more. I am trying to achieve around 130 hp (at rear wheels).
Thankyou,

Just put about 3000 km after service and tunit being fitted and it sure is a great improvement.
Thank you for great service and i'll be telling people about the much improved performance with it being done there.
See you in 97,000 km or earlier if i think its running like a slug.
thanks again for great service
Peter
p.s. I can see why the 4wd magazines are impressed after taking vehicles there.

George here from the Philippines.
Finally, my Tunit is connected and working!
I found this auto shop which specializes in modifying Honda & Mitsubishi streetcars to racing cars and I thought that they would have the guts to do it and they did it.
One of the young partners who was manning the shop told me that he can connect everything. He found a hole at the right side of the engine wall with a rubber grommet and out came the long part of the wire loom (The Philippines is a left hand drive country). And from there everything got connected and they even tested the engine's horsepower with and without the Tunit thru their dyno. The results were very surprising.
Without the Tunit the Patrol's Z3.0 DD engine only pumped out 101 HP to the wheel which was way below the claimed 160 HP. The Tunit however gave a 122.7 HP readout running at 65 kph. I can't remember all the details but according to the guys it was enough for me to feel the change in power. The Tunit was just at its first stage.
The power surge is there and I think I'll be enjoying the Patrol knowing that the reserve is there.
Incidentally, the shop also modifies Land Cruiser 80s with mechanical pumps. This was their first time to encounter installing a modification gadget attached to a modern EFI Diesel Engine.
Thanks and I'll be sending some pictures next time.

Remember me, Tony Fletcher .
You fitted the Tunit to my Prado the other day.
Well what a difference it made. The engine is crisp and quiet and just wants to rev out. The auto trans changes gear alot more quickly and sharper, I haven't done a fuel economy test yet but I can tell it will be alot better than before because you are hardly pressing the peddle to make it go. On the way down to Tunit about half throttle at 110Kph on the way back hardly touching the peddle at 110Kph and the car just wants to go faster. The car is a real pleasure to drive now!
Thank's a lot & Regards Tony
